Improve your tire management using our automatic DOT recognition API
Reading and automating the encoding and decoding of the DOT code enables optimized stock management. It allows tires to be sorted according to their week and year of manufacture.
The automatic DOT code check integrated into the workshop tools ensures that the tire complies with the manufacturer’s recommendations. This decryption also enables maintenance workshops to provide consumers with more information on the origin and age of their tires.
Once again, relying on an automatic and reliable encoding of the DOT identification number enables tire recycling or retreading workshop managers to qualify the operations to be carried out, thus saving time in follow-up and sorting operations.
Each tire has a DOT (U.S. Department of Transportation) identification number printed on the sidewall. This code is made up of numbers and letters. Four blocks make up this identification number:
For example, the following DOT code “DOT T7D3 1BH 3218” can be decoded as follows:

The DOT Recognition API transforms a photo of the DOT code on the tire sidewall into information that can be used by an information system.
This API uses artificial intelligence (AI) functionalities, which can read black characters printed on a black background.
For accurate results, the image of tire sidewall should be clear with the DOT code properly visible, as shown next slide.
The use of all our APIs is subject to the use of a user token. To obtain this token, it is necessary to authenticate by an API call.
The authentication allows to get the user token which will be requested in all the API calls.
When you register an app for any API product, a client id and client secret is created.
Client Id is treated as API Key and used to authenticate the consumer for subsequent API calls
